Can it be? This new feeling I'm feeling? OPTIMISM?!

I have not written anything in a REALLY long time, so in honor of order to prepare for the upcoming school season, I'm going to attempt to write a blog entry to polish my rusty writing. It's become circumlocutory and extremely inarticulate.

Nevertheless, I am looking forward to this upcoming year, and for a change, I feel optimistic, which is quite a new feeling. Last year was a series of groping around in the dark and falling down a couple flight of stairs, but I am hoping that this year will not be similar in anyway.
This upcoming year will become busier than ever, and as I am attempting to prepare for my inevitable sleep debt (that is a scientific term.. I think), I know what must be done. I know what must be accomplished, and I know that if junior year is a repeat of sophomore year, I will become forever pessimistic.

Why this sudden optimism? I really have no clue. Optimism and hope has never gotten me anywhere. All my encounters with optimism and hope have ended badly. Well this optimism might have to do with the sleep (and food) surplus that I've been getting. It could also be the fact that high school is almost over, and junior year is going to really matter.
As the end of summer approaches, I need to SLEEP, finish my journals, and prepare for one helluva busy year.

My goals for this upcoming year are:
GPA: 4.00
Get above 700 on all SAT II (-____-)
Learn to use the HAAS and CNC machines
Win in excellence or a chamionship title- VRC (woot woot)
Contribute to winning in FRC (maybe FTC?)
Become a more organized student
Become a better student
Get a relatively high score on the SAT Reasoning
Practice piano more
Become a better writer and speaker
Become more optimistic
Help raise enough money for our class

There are a few more that I can't think of at the moment, but all in all, that is what I am setting out to do this year. I am quite sure that this quixotic and over-idealistic attitude will die as soon as school starts, but until then, I remain an optimist. Good luck to all this upcoming year.

Why I love summer

I love summer. It's not the sheer fact that school cease to exists because it doesn't; the teachers decide to give us summer reading assignments. It's the exhilarating feeling of being able to spend your time as you wish. It feels absolutely amazing to be able to wake up in the morning and not thing about what's due the upcoming day, week, or month. It's an awesome feeling to be able to pursue my own hobbies without the sense of impending doom that accompanies the stresses and due dates of school.
It's amazing that my bed time is not whenever I can fit in, but rather, whenever I feel like sleeping. Being eased awake by the sun shining through my window is priceless. The dread of facing a Monday and the yearn for that Friday is now gone, replaced by the lazy, blending, warm days of summer. My fail attempt to be poetic, but nevertheless true.

The truth of the matter is, I don't feel busy enough this summer. Sure, rest from school is great, but I don't want to feel as though I'm wasting my time and accomplishing nothing. Can you believe it? We've already spent 2 years in high school. It's amazing how fast time flies. I want to make every moment of it worth it, especially the summers.
I don't complain about the robotics meetings, classes, or, to a certain extent, the summer reading assignments. Why? Because there is absolutely no stress at all. I like robotics, I get to choose my summer classes, and the reading homework assignments are barely stress at all. I love that feeling.

The weather is getting warmer, my parents are getting sick of me sitting around all day, and my brother is getting out for summer. Summer is just getting started :).

Macs vs. PC

A bunch of Mac supporters didn't like me ranting about this stuff. So, I am going to remove it. -sigh- Cheers!

Story of My Life

So, I haven't updated this blog in quite awhile. Well, I feel like going on a rant at the moment, so why not give the few followers that I have something interesting to read.
Flashback:

It was Monday afternoon, the day before my IDP presentation. There was no homework due and the rush of IDP had pass, so I was in a mood to relax, and try to focus on memorizing my part. However, I turned on my computer and started playing Navyfield (this game is soo addicting by the way). Don't judge me ;). Anyway, so halfway through the game, the screen froze. This was a frequent occurence, so I decided to try the usual debugging techniques. Ctrl + alt + dlt, alt +f4, alt + tab. None of which worked. So, I resorted to Plan F, hard rebooting. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term hard-rebooting, hard rebooting is the process by which you hold the power button of your laptop or computer to shut it down. All went well, until I attempted to turn on the computer again. The start-up file was damaged. (that was stupid of me) I couldn't turn on the computer, even after restoring it, restarting, rebooting it, etc. I had a panic spell because of all the irreplaceable documents, photos, music, and videos that I had on the laptop. I was thankful for one silver lining; this didnt happen during IDP.

I decided to call Kevin Hsunami, who was more helpful than dell support because 1) he actually fixed it and 2) he didnt charge me money. Dell support sucks, unless you pay for the 3 year warranty :(. Anyway, he told me that I could recover the files, but I would end up having to reformat my harddrive. I gave up for the night and memorized my presentation. (Side note: My presentation went pretty well, in my opinion).

I was able to use Linux to access my computer files and back them up before reformatting my harddrive. However, bad news is, I no longer have Microsoft Office because I had to reformat my harddrive. Good news, I have all my files :), even though I cant open doc files.

Summary:
DONT HARD REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER!

Kind of long, but I havent updated this thing in forever.

Tip of the Day: Say Hi!

Alright! I haven't updated this thing in forever. Sorry about that, but school > all things at CAMS, that includes sleep, health, and life. It's not that anyone reads this thing anyway right? I'm really just ranting to myself.
So, I discovered from a few of my recent experiences that I think everyone will benefit from. In a world where everyone seems to go about their day to day business. Where events seem to blend in along with everything else in the great rush, people don't really pay much attention to others. By others, I mean people who you interact with, but are strangers, such as the guy at the cash register, that one secretary at the DMV, the banker that you talked to etc.
My tip of the day is simple: Before going about your business with the person, take a moment to say hello and give a small smile. This lets the person know that you recognize their existence as a person, and not as a machine who is only there to serve you, even if that is their job. Small courtesies such as hello's and thank you's will go a long way, and will improve both your experience and the other person's experience.
Try it out! I did, certainly helped make things a lot more pleasant for me and I receive much better service.

Christmas!

Well, it's Christmas eve, and since my parents don't really care about the whole Christmas deal, I have nothing planned. Probably just going to work on my novel, try not to think about upcoming science fair and history day :(. I'm kind of indifferent about the whole Christmas thing, and the state of the economy is just depressing. Christmas used to be fun because my parents would be more willing to spend money, and it would all be grand, but this year, not so much. Everyone is afraid to spend money, and that really isn't helping the economy either.
Well, one good thing about Christmas, winter break! Three whole weeks (well actually, if I subtract all the days that I have to go to school anyway, I'd end up with like only one whole week, but I'm not complaining. Well, actually I am, but...) of pure bliss. My brother and I have been bonding... by playing Starcraft <3333 and navyfield... <---- that game is SOOO bomb...
check it out at navyfield.com and tell me if you play it... ill add you as a friend ;)
*****Publish novel
******Science Fair
*****History Day
**Math Packet
***Acadec Speech
********* bunch of upcoming finals :(
***Spanish packet
* Dimensions

Lots of stuff going on this break, but I think I'm going to die as soon as school starts. Science fair and the finals are my main worry :/, especially bio. Anything that concerns bio, I am absolutely dreading.
As you can see, an entry on Christmas soon turns into a homework discussion. It is indeed a pretty depressing Christmas eve with nothing but homework to occupy my lonely nights.
I was hoping to be able to make edit a few robotics video of my team's VEX season (which was epic fail) and put them on youtube, but I guess I won't be able to. Bad economy, too much homework, the flu = satisfactory christmas
hahah see how the standard for a relaxing break has went down since I've come to CAMS?!
horrible -__-

However, I do wish you all (who actually reads this ? ) a Merry Christmas, Krazy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, and a Happy New Year. Cheers!
